Child, Teen, and Adolescent Therapy.

Help your Child

It's been rough...your child is acting out in anger toward you and has developed some behavioral issues.  You don't know what to do or where to go from here, but it is just getting worse. The reality is, they may be feeling something totally different than anger altogether, and the anger is just what  they show and what we see on the surface.

Depression and anxiety can sometimes present as anger in children, especially when they don't know to to express their feelings effectively. They may feel embarrassed or nervous to talk to you about it.  Many kids feel like if they tell their parents their true feelings, their parents may not be ale to handle it.  Maybe they think you will get mad or sad and they may feel shame or blame. You may not even realize it, and that's okay.

Your child may not have the words to portray how they feel...yet.   Let me  get to the bottom of it and help your child to identify their feelings and express them appropriately, while overcoming the obstacles holding them back.  I can help.

Sometimes it feels as if you're the "bad guy"

I can help your child or teenager communicate what is troubling them versus keeping it all bottled up inside. I will also work with YOU, as the parent, to identify your strengths and weaknesses, and expectations of your child, in a safe and compassionate way.

Together, we will work on the parenting strategies, methods and boundaries that will help you, while simultaneously helping your child or adolescent in the way that works best for them.

Teens

Teenage years are filled with developmental changes, hormones and can come with a lot of misunderstandings within the family.  Whether it is social anxiety with peers, dating, being bullied, or endlessly wanting their privacy and space from you, I will work with your teen on how to connect with you.

Let me help you understand the developmental changes in your teen and how it impacts their role in the family. Understanding them, as a byproduct, will help you communicate on their level so they can also understand you more.  I can make it attainable and ease the tension.

Family Systems

At Bee Well Psychological Services, the focus is on the whole Family System, versus just one member of the family. Whether your child has experienced trauma, or your teen  experimented with alcohol, I strive to explore how this affects you all. If you allow me,  I want to integrate the entire family in  healing the family system. Everyone is affected when one member of the family is struggling. Let me help you all feel better and communicate effectively.
